[bookwrm]

My notebook was infected with psguard, spysheriff, and others. I ran ewido security and xoftspy which removed most of the problem. I found your site and followed the steps listed to remove malware. Trend detected 5 items that couldn't be cleaned or deleted. Panda detected searchmeup, isearch, bigtrafficnet, and superspider---but couldn't delete them. I then ran hijack this. Can you help me to get this laptop clean? Thank you for you help.

• Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
  
• Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then OPEN the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  
• Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #"1" for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter.
  
• This will scan your computer and it may appear as if nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log.
  
• Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

• From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing "2" and then pressing ENTER.
  
• Then press any key to reboot your computer.
  
• After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer.
  
• When it's finished, Notepad will open with a log.
  
• Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

1. From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #4 for Run Fix by typing 4 and then pressing enter. This will restore the winlogon defaults

• Backup your registry in case we need to undo an error:
  • Go Start>> Run and type regedit and click OK
  • From the Registry Editor Toolbar, click File>>Export and choose your Desktop as the destination.
  • Close the Registry Editor
• Download and install Registrar Lite.
  
  
• Open RegistrarLite, and copy/Paste the following into the address bar and click GO beside the Green Arrow:
  
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
  
  
• Now look for the following and DELETE it: drct16 - drct16.dll
  
  
• Once deleted, Exit the program
  
  
• REBOOT your system.
  
  
• Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

1. Please redo the same procedure and look under winlogin notify for a folder called:

drct16 and DELETE it.

2. REBOOT as before and post a fresh log.
