Hi,

I am really amazed at the knowledge base at this Forum, added to the the fact that I found it - its a good day.

The same can't be said for last night. <_<

This dowload.dialer thing hoped on my computer , I have run Norton AV 2004 in safe mode but couldn't get it to delete it .
I have tried to run the update for Lavasoft's Ad Aware updater but it seems to not want to - I wonder if the dialer has somethingto do with it.

I have posted my Hijack log in the correct Forum ( I hope) and would appreciate any help anyone can give...

Thank you,

Eric

Hi Kessel
The dialer that you so elequently put...hopped onto your computer was executed by yourself and ad aware cannot remove installed programs. I'm sure we can help you however.
Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Actually this dialer thing seems to be fairly benign, the last one just about killed my Intenet access, that's why I am very eloquent on the matter

I have run Norton + 2 spyware programs..

Norton picks up the dialer but for some reason does not delete it ( presumably because it is embedded in a more major program)..

I look forward from hearing from you.. <_<

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Hi,

This is the new log. The dialer thig is still there but the computer seems to be working a bit faster so no worries <_<

I would like some help wit a few other things such as DVD programs and setting up firewalls manually ( such as Agentium Outpost Firwall). If this is allowable in this or similar Forum please let me know.

Thanks,

Eric

What's the name and location of the dialer? I suspect it may be in your system restore files.

I would like some help wit a few other things such as DVD programs and setting up firewalls manually ( such as Agentium Outpost Firwall). If this is allowable in this or similar Forum please let me know.

Sure. Just start a new topic. <_<
