I'm running two 512 sticks at the moment, and thinking of getting a second gig. Which path would be best?

A second 512 x2 dual channel kit, or getting a 1 gig x2 dual channel kit?

If I were to go with another 512x2 kit, would I need to get the exact same RAM?

Thanks.

The cheapest way would be to buy another 512x2 kit of the same ram you have now

True, but I hear 4x 512mb setups are unstable. Is this just a rumor?

You might have to set the command timing to 2t in the ram setting (in the bios) but should work fine
