If you can help me please. Last night I accidentally downloaded something I wasn't supposed to and now I'm getting these ABI network/aurora pop-ups and have gotten 4 trojans since. I've read a lot on the internet about this company and it seems to be a legitimate company, but I still don't trust the uninstaller they have on their website. I've done all the scans already (spybot, ad-aware, housecall, norton symantec...) and it still seems to be in my computer. I don't want to mess with the registry myself because I have no idea what any of it means...so please tell me what I can do. Here's my logfile from HijackThis. Can you tell me what this means and if i'm really infected?? Thanks so much!

Hi kdot54

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please download and install AD-Aware se.
[urlhttp://russelltexas.com/malware/adawarese/adawarese.htm]Check Here on how setup and use it[/url] - please make sure you update it first. Don't run yet.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop. We may need it later.

Please download SpyBot V1.4 http://www.majorgeek...wnload2471.html Update the program then run it.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please go to the following website
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
. Click on Spyware Utilities.
. Then click on Nail/Aurora Fix
download Nailfix.exe
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode: Please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Run Ewido full scan. Save the scan.log.

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch and delete all the files in that folder.

Please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:

Run Ad-aware se let remove all it finds

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure all are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Run killbox and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.

I have one question before I follow your instructions. I delete my pharmacy.umaryland.edu homepage?? that's my school's homepage. the one I was trying to get rid of was the dmv.com, the delmarva internet online...i thought i had uninstalled that last week, but i noticed that it's still on top of my internet explorer bar everytime i open a new page and it's been really annoying to see that. can i delete that?? i noticed that it was in my logfile still, so does that mean it's still in my computer? thanks.

i am also having trouble restarting my computer in safe mode. i've tried several times with F8 and it does nothing. upon restarting my computer, on the very bottom it does say F1 for setup utility, F12 for recovery so i tried F1 and went to startup, and says boot and network. under network, there is boot mode, BIOS setup prompt, IBM product recovery program prompt, boot device list F12 option, Flash BIOS Updating by End-Users. I'm not sure if i'm in the right place or which one to select. nothing says safe mode on it. thanks for the help.

i have an IBM thinkpad A31, operating system is windows XP

KC,

I figured out how to start my computer in safe mode. I'm pretty sure I did everything that you said correctly, but it took some time figuring out the whole safe mode thing.

The website for panda software did not work, so I went on the website itself and tried to install it and asked me to install Active X control along with it, so I wasn't sure I wanted to download anything unknown after my fiasco. If you tell me it's okay then I will do it.

Here's my latest HijackThis logfile after I deleted everything you told me to delete.

KC,

Above was my HijackThis Logfile from yesterday and I decided to scan with the panda software so here's the logfile from that. It looks like I still have the ABI (a better internet)/Aurora in my computer, but there hasn't been any pop-ups so far since yesterday morning when I followed your first set of directions. Awaiting your next set of instructions. Thanks for your help.

Hi kdot54

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Run Process Explorer and find the Process in the list of Processes.
c:\windows\system32\mllnio.exe r
c:\windows\system32\ejptpcg.exe r

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file:
c:\windows\system32\ejptpcg.exe r
c:\windows\system32\mllnio.exe r

When prompted if you want to reboot click YES
Leave Process explorer running with the process suspended.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wamdjm] c:\windows\system32\mllnio.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lqavsa] c:\windows\system32\ejptpcg.exe r
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Kw5mRiH6Q] scalegih.exe
O16 - DPF: {41F17733-B041-4099-A042-B518BB6A408C} - http://a1540.g.akama...meInstaller.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
scalegih.exe
Exit Explorer.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\Program Files\Aprps
C:\Program Files\Cas
C:\Program Files\CMAPP
C:\Program Files\Kazaa
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

I can't find these processes anywhere in the process explorer. I even did a search for it and I can't find them. I just look in the top window under processes right? I even tried looking for them in the bottom window, but no luck. I did noticed them still in my hijackThis logfile though. Please help. Thanks.

Hi kdot54

It would help me to see a new HJT.log and the panda scan.

I will then see what damage we have done to the malware from your last log.

I looked at my HJT file again and I realized why I can't find those processes. It's not one of the running processes on my computer currently. They are located in my registry still though. So really I don't have to suspend those processes right?? Let me know if I'm right. I'm just guessing. Thanks for helping me. The new logfiles are posted above.

I know you are probably busy, but I posted my newest HJT and panda scan logfile last thursday like you told me to. My computer has been free of aurora pop-ups for about 1 week now, but just today I got 53 trojans all at once and the virus was called Downloader.Trojan, the filename was in C:\System Volume Information\_restore... Can you please help me soon. Thanks. Since you didn't respond last time when I couldn't suspend the 2 processes, i'm just going to follow the rest of your last set of directions without suspending the processes. Thanks.

Hi kdot54

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Download APT
Open apt and search in the window for the mllnio.exe r.
Open your C:\Windows\system32 folder and search for the bad file. Don't delete it yet, just leave the system32 folder open so you can see the bad file.
In apt again, Select the bad process and Click Kill3

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wamdjm] c:\windows\system32\mllnio.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lqavsa] c:\windows\system32\ejptpcg.exe r
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Kw5mRiH6Q] scalegih.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\Documents and Settings\SOP_STUDENT\Desktop\procexp.exe
C:\Program Files\NavNT\VPC32.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\winhlp32.exe
c:\windows\system32\mllnio.exe r
c:\windows\system32\ejptpcg.exe r
scalegih.exe
Exit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
