Reboot the PC, it won't do any harm

Try the link,

http://adslguide.org...s/speedtest.asp

if it doesn't load, try downloading the Java from there

Try tuneup trial

http://www.tune-up.com

Run disk clean up, registry clean up then click optimize to run reg defrag

You would lose files you haven't saved, or changes to files you haven't saved.

Any files already saved to disc will stay there

Click start then turn off computer then restart

Try here and Windows Installation CD to repair the current installation allows for saving data and settings

http://www.theelderg..._windows_xp.htm

You need to check Windows Update after, though you should consider removing Java and then re-installing first, also running tune-up trial in between will make sure nothing is left to do with Java to give it the best go for re-installing it.

Depending on your connection speed it will seem as if it is doing nothing, it will say done a few times before getting to the option for custom or express.

You will only need windows update after the repair install

If the only problem is not getting onto some sites because of Java, you should look at removing it then re-installing it

Click start then control panel then add or remove programmes, look for JS2E Runtime Environment 5.0, left click it and then click remove, reboot the PC. If you don't see this in add or remove programmes then go here

http://adslguide.org...s/speedtest.asp

It should load a box with a red X, look below the box for get java technology and click download now
