Hi firefighter and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Your system is still carrying the infection that you think is no longer present and a few more

4. I need you to remove the double spacing from your log to make it easier to analyze.

.Please go to Start - Run... and type notepad.exe
.Hit OK.
.Now go to Format and uncheck WordWrap.
.Close Notepad.

5. I need you to Disable TeaTimer because it will very possibly interfere with the modifications that are required.

Open Spybot and and make sure you are in Advanced mode (check it in the 'Mode' menu). Go to the Tools section and click resident and then uncheck the box for Tea Timer.

Then, reboot

6. A. I want you to UNINSTALL the following programs through the ADD/REMOVE feature of your Control Panel:

WinTools

B. Now, using Windows Explorer, I need you to DELETE the following folder(s) and all their content:

C:\Program Files\WinTools

C. Reboot your system

7. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi Trevuren:

I first want to say a very big thank you for your help!!! I have followed the steps for notepad and tea timer. I looked for Wintools in my program list but I did not see it. I looked for the folder c:\program files\wintools. It was not present. I searched my computer and did find it, however, under c:\program files\common files. Should I delete this folder. I do not want to sound totally dumb but I know that I should follow your directions explicitly. So before I go any further, I will wait on your answer. Oh yeah, there is an 11 -14 difference in time where I am at so my responses may be delayed. Again I thank you for your help.

.Exit CWShredder.
.REBOOT your system

2. There is a file in your log of which I am unsure and of which there exists very little informatiion. For that reason, I need you to submit it to Jotti's for analysis.

1. Click HERE to get to Jotti's site.

2. At the top of the Jotti window, use the Browse button to locate the following file on your system:

C:\WINNT\system32\LxrJD31s.exe

3. Once you have located the file, click SUBMIT and the content of the file will be uploaded by the site and analysed.

4. Please provide me with the results of the analysis.

Note: This should not take you very long to do. If I get your response back within the hour, I'll be able to send you the fix that you can do at your leisure.

Regards,

Trevuren

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

Using Windows Explorer, please locate and DELETE the following files/folders (with all their content), if they are still present:

azentretien.dll<===You will have to search for this one
C:\WINNT\timon3.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\ap9h4qmo.exe
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WinTools<===Folder and content
combo.exe<===You will have to search for this one too
C:\WINNT\System32\intell32.exe

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

Let me know if any problems persist.

OK!!!! Black Screen is now history. You really don't know how thankful I am!! There are a couple of issues that I now face. First, I am now on a ship. While I have internet capability, I cannot connect my laptop to the system. Therefore I was unable to do the PANDA ACTIVE SCAN. After I went through the other steps prescribed, the black screen went away. However, I noticed that now I do not have drag and drop capabilities, [right-click cut/copy and paste capabilities], and I also noticed that when usiing MS Word, I tried to cut and paste and it said I did not have enough memory????? Any suggestions??? Did I do something wrong??? Here are the latest log files.
