I used this hotfix, Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 – v2, and the problem is resolved.

Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 – v2 was released yesterday and from the MS Knowledge base article about it, it supposedly fixed the floppy disk issue.  Read more about it here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891861

We're going to test it at work here first before we deploy it again.  Nice to see Microsoft actually "testing" something before releasing it...

We've got this problem with the floppy drive freezing office. Thing is we're using SUS to run the updates and we're still getting machines where the V2 rollup is not being applied. It was auto approved by SUS on the 9/9/2005.

If we manually install it the problems go away but we've got 1000s of machines over 100 sites. Anybody know any reason why SUS isn't applying the updated rollup?
