HP 4110 all-in-one has carrige jam

I have an HP Officejet 4110 all-in-one machine getting a "carriage jam" error message. The inkjet carriage is in the far left area of the machine and doesn't move at all.
I chatted with an HP online help technician and he said it was probably a hardware problem and to take it to a service center. I also tried the the troubleshooting page for the machine but those steps didn't help.
Hoping someone might have a suggestion as to what I can try. I'm not very technical.
