Click here to download ewido security suite - it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido. Once the updates are installed, reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded, then:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folders or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress).
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.

Reboot when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here together with the ewido report you saved.

Hi

Before I do that, I do have Mcaffee Virus scanner installed, if I install endwido will this mess it up, I thought it said don't have 2 of them installed at the same time. I scanned using adaware, Housecall, and Mcaffee, Mcaffee later that night found pacimedia in a system restore folder on the c drive, but I'm pretty sure it was done scanning c when it popped up.

I have 2 operating systems on the comp, on the c drive I have win 98 and on the D drive I have winXP. I was doing the scans from WinXP, and the Pacimedia was found in the Win 98 directory. The first scan deleted Win98's version of Windows media player, I hope this wont be a problem later :tazz:

I did just open trillion at the time, could Pacimedia have something to do with Trillion? I could be wrong. After I let Mcaffee delete the system restore of it I restarted the comp in both operating systems, and then did the scan again, it said it was clean.

I'm sorry if I'm being confusing I'm not very good at this.

Thanks

OK, ewido and McAfee can live happily side by side - you need to install it on your XP system as it won't run under Win98. Run it as instructed previously then boot into your Win98 system and give me a HJT log from that.

Click here, for instructions on how to enable hidden files and folders to be visible. After enabling, find, zip and send this file:

sromtsr.exe

to this e-mail address including a link to this thread in the body of the email. It may be OK but I'd like to take a closer look at it - I'll get back to you about it if any further action is required.
