Please run this application. Click here to download Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta, check for updates and run it. Reboot when done.

Rescan with HJT, post a new log here and let me know what MSAS removed.

Click here to download Nailfix. Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Run Process Explorer and find c:\windows\system32\crbaued.exe in the list of Processes.

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select c:\windows\system32\crbaued.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended through the reboot.

Have it reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly - this is normal.

Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - (no file)
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wssbme] c:\windows\system32\crbaued.exe r
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.filesharingaccess.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here.

Carry on with the rest of it - it may have morphed - we'll be able to tell in the next log. Please don't reboot/switch off after posting your next reply.

Looks better.

Download the Hoster from here. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

Click here to make sure that you have the latest Critical Update patches for Windows otherwise you will get reinfected.

Reboot. Post a final HJT log when done.

Apologies - try these:

http://update.micros...t.aspx?ln=en-us

Click here to download the Hoster. Extract it from the zip file into a folder and doubleclick on hoster.exe. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit the program.

You still need to update Windows. You are at a very real risk of reinfection the longer you leave it - please do so and post a final log.

i dont know why, but for some reason its not working. everytime i click on the link, it goes to the page but it never gets past the page that says "checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating software for use with the website." and then if i try clicking on the link to go to the "install critical updates with windows update" page, all i get is a blank page. what should i be doing?

Do you have a legitimate copy of XP? If not then that will be the problem.
