Is it a Compaq computer? If so, look at this:

No, it is not a Compaq computer. I've had this for 2 days, if that helps.

That's very generic error. My best guess is it hardware related. Probably a memory error, but could also be a bad motherboard, etc.

If you want to test the memory yourself, try http://www.memtest86.com

Installation
===============
Memtest86 is a stand alone program that cannot be executed under windows and must
be loaded from a floppy disk.

To install Memtest86:
- Extract the files from the zip archive
- Open the directory where the files were extracted and click on "install.bat".
- The install program will prompt you for the floppy drive and also prompt you to
insert a blank floppy.
- To run Memtest86 leave the floppy in the drive and reboot.

NOTE: After the boot floppy has been created you will not be able to read the floppy
from windows. This is normal.

I downloaded the memtest86, and ran it for about an hour. It got through 8 tests, and every test had an outrageous number or errors.

I just want to fix the problem so that the error message stops popping up. Because it does, i can't do anything like burn CD's, sice the program always ends with that same error.

The errors probably mean a bad stick of RAM, or a bad motherboard. Because it's so new, why not warranty it?

Sounds like a defective stick of memory. Talk to the company who issues the warranty and get it replaced. The only way to fix defective memory errors are to replace the memory.
