Hello,

I am having serious problems with my computer. While it is kind of rundown, old, and probably should be replaced, I still need it. It is still running Windows 98, has adaware installed, and I run the trend micro housecall scan on it every week. A few nights ago I was looking for song lyrics to "Cow Cow Boogie," and google linked me to a page called lyricsfreak.com. After going to the page, my computer had a heart attack, was consumed by pop-ups, then went to the blue screen of death. When I restarted my computer, it said "midi playback failed." Then it says that IE failed to load properly and must shut down. There are no icons on my desktop and when I hit control, alt, delete, no programs are running.

Please help!

My roomate has been kind enough to let me use his Mac for a few days, so I will be able to check my email.

Ok, we will need to know a little more information.
1. Can you start and use programs on the machine?
2. Is your Operating System Windows 98 or 98SE?

If you answered yes to question #1, Can you install programs from floppy or CD? If you can, find a friend with a windows based PC and download these tools and save the installation programs to disk.

Once you have got these programs on disk or CD, Install them to your machine and run them one at a time EXCEPT FOR HiJack This!
Once you have ran all of these programs Reeboot and test your machine. If you are not still having problems you may want to still come back and follow STEP 5 HERE!
If you are still having problems Install and Run HiJack This. Run the program, Copy and paste the LOG to a text file and save it to disk and then find that working computer and post the log HERE!

I can start my my computer, but when it gets to the point of loading the task bar, desktop, etc absolutely nothing shows up.

My computer has windows 98 installed.

Also, I have Adaware, Clean-up, and CWShredder already installed and use them regularly, along with Trendmicro's Housecall virus scan.
