I cannot send pictures from my computer through outlook express. :tazz:

I have done everything suggested so far and I still get this message below.

It has always been easy to send pictures through outlook express versus
adding them one at a time in Yahoo email...

(Outlook Express goes through my
Internet provider...I recently changed to peoplepc and that is when it QUIT WORKING.)
HELP!!!

Thank you for writing to PeoplePC Online.

Regarding your concern, please follow the steps given below:

- Open your Outlook Express and go to Tools
- Select the Accounts and click on Mail, highlight the PeoplePC e-mail and click on Set as Default

If you do not use the previous ISP e-mail account, we would request you to please remove the settings from Outlook Express by following the steps given below:

- Go to Outlook Express and click on Tools.
- Select Accounts and click on Mail.
- Highlight previous e-mail account and click on Remove tab.

Also, check your Outlook Express settings as follows:

1) Double left click "Outlook Express" to open the program.
2) The "Outlook Express" window will appear.
3) Click on "Tools" on top of the window.
4) Scroll down and click on "Options".
5) Click on "Connections".
6) Ensure there is no checkmark at "Hang up after sending and receiving".
7) Click on "OK".
8) Click on "Tools" once more.
9) Scroll down and click on "Accounts".
10) Click on the "Mail" tab on the top of the window.
11) Select PeoplePC e-mail account under "Account" heading and click on "Properties".
12) A window will come up.
13) Click on "Servers" tab and make sure you have following as mail server settings:
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.peoplepc.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtpauth.peoplepc.com
14) Under "Incoming Mail Server" heading, uncheck "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" box.
15) Under "Outgoing Mail Server" put a check in the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication"
16) Then click "Advanced".
17) On this screen uncheck the check boxes "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).
18) Check that Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to 587 and that Incoming mail (POP3) is set to 110.
19) Click "OK".

Further, please follow the steps given below to ensure that you are not getting timed-out while you are trying to send/receive emails:

- Open "Outlook Express"
- Click on "Tools" and scroll down to "Accounts"
- Click on the "Mail" Tab
- Highlight PeoplePC account then click on "Properties"
- Click on the "Advanced" tab, at the bottom of this page
- Under "Server Timeouts" heading, increase the server time out to maximum (5 minute)
- Click on "Apply", then "Ok"
- Click on "Close" under "Internet Ac[bleep]s" window.

Thanks again for writing.

All the best,
One of the tech people at peoplepc.com

No, I never used earthlink, I don't have a clue why 'earthlink' is even mentioned. :tazz:

My provider before was something called '4 way'.......

For me to send anything, like from a website, if I click on SEND, it goes through
outlook express...that works....but when I try to send a picture and a message from my digital pictures that are stored on my computer, I get that error message.

Nope, Dave, the email was sent to a Yahoo account (myself)

I was PRACTICING by sending a picture to myself.......

OUTLOOK EXPRESS just keeps stacking the unable to send messages,
in the OUTBOX.

There are FIVE in the outbox now.
I keep trying to send them...I hope when it finally DOES work, that it
doesn't send them FORTY TIMES! :tazz:

Outlook Express shows that it is SENDING them but then it stops and that error
notice comes up.

Well, I AM a little frustrated. :tazz:

I just realized that Outlook Express will not send website links or pags either!

I get that same error message.
I am pretty sure that I just have something wrong in the account option area.

I deleted all the Outbox messages and tried sending a FRESH picture.
DIDN'T WORK....

Dave, I wrote EXACTLY what they said to write in the
note above from peoplepc techs.

Just a minute and I will go over to outlook as I noticed
an error number that might mean something to you.
I do not understand it at all.

Editing for error numbers. It says:

Secure (SSL): No, Server Error: 421
error number 0x800CCCOF

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP....I really would like to have
Outlook Express working again....

P.S. I have to leave for awhile to do some errands.
But when I get back, I will sure check here for any
new solutions.

try some of these work arounds (microsoft suggests that it may be a virus scan problem)

Thanks Dave....I did click on those sites, just not sure how to do some of the things and it wouldn't help to just do a few of the instrutions...
I need you HERE at my computer to show me!
I will study it again and ask specific questions.

And Thanks for the personal message, Dallas.

I think I would uninstall Outlook Express but not sure how.
I tried from the control panel, add or remove programs but I didn't see it.
I found it on the left in Windows but it wouldn't delete.

Could you tell me how?

Also, if you don't have outlook express, if you want to send a page or link from a website, how do you do it?

For me, I click on file in the left corner and then send page to...
and it goes through outlook express which is also connected by my
dial up...peoplepc.

I think I will post this on the Geek site too, so your reply can be read by many...(It might help others.)
Thanks, Janie

Yeah, on my computer it says i need a subscription or something like that.. Dunno, very weird..

Try reinstall/updating outlook express. May also be a firewall setting

Been so long since I used Outlook Express, I haven't really kept up-to-date.. I am sure there are more programs like Outlook Express, but I odn't know of any off the top of my head..

Thanks, I didn't know that about Mozilla Thunderbird.
Do you think it will work with Window XP. I think I want it!

I tried to UNINSTALL Outlook but when I followed these instructions below
I get an error message that says windows cannot find find sfc/scannow
and to check spelling and try again...gives a file search but I don't see any
where there that has it in?

This is the un-install instructions from 'dsenette'.

Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Reinstall or repair Windows XP
To repair or reinstall Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP, complete the following procedure while you are logged on as an administrator:
1. Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer:
a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.
