hi,
I'm having this problem, when I'm connecting to the internet (DSL connection) sometimes my computer reboots and i don't understand why... when I go to the zonealarm window a process running appears to be trying to connect the net, but i didn't allow it to, but i think the problems started when this process showed up...

ad-aware doesn't find anything harmfull and kaspersky doesn't find anything harmfull also, so i "googled" the process and came up here for help.

it's ntuser that's bothering me, i don't know if it is harmfull or not so i ask for your help to see if i can solve my problem...

Hi riclas,

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted

Are you familiar, or did you download these programs?:

cFosSpeed System Service
SP2 Connection Patcher

If you are not familiar with them, can you please do the following:
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan"box on the top of the page:
    • D:\Programas\SP2 Connection Patcher\SP2ConnPatcher.exe
      E:\programas\cfosspeed\cFosSpeed.exe
  • Click on the submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.

DOWNLOAD PROGRAMS

Download and install CleanUp! Here*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.
We will use this program later.

THE FIX

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4. Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for NTBOOTMGR (NTBOOT) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled. (if present)

Please do the same with these services:

NTLOAD
NTSVCMGR
Remote Administrator Service

5. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

6. Open HiJack and do a scan.

7. Put a Check next to the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

thanks. i'll print that and make what you ask.

I am familiar with either cfosspeed (very good internet optimization program :tazz:) and with the SP2patcher.

also I have installed the r_server to reach my computer remotely, but I have it's access to the internet closed...

thanks again

Hi Riclas,

Thanks for that information on r_server, I had diffrent information on it.
Can you also let me know what these 2 programs are and maybe a web site related to them:

cFosSpeed System Service
SP2 Connection Patcher

Thanks again,

cfosspeed service can be found at http://www.cfos.de I have the latest beta but I use it much before this problem started so I doubt it has something to do with it ( although it could be a bug that makes it crash but I don't think so)

the SP2 patcher is a little patch that comes with warez P2P (http://www.warez.com) for the limit of concurrent TCP connections of SP2. I have made the test on Jotti and it didn't show anything.

I am aware of that. but the spywares in warez P2P are optional in the install process, if i install only the program itself it doesn't install any spyware... also I have made several ad-aware scans to keep my pc clean.

We need to delete those services of your computer:
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the configure button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • click on "delete an NT service"
  • Copy and paste this in the box: NTBOOT
  • Click "ok", then reboot
Then do the same for these:

NTLOAD
NTSVCMGR

Great job, it appears your computer is clean :tazz:

Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Now that your system is Malware Free, it is important to reset your system Restore. Click Here to learn how to.

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs, if you don't already have them, for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE
Spybot S&D
Microsoft Anti-Spyware

If you are unhappy with your current antivirus and want to replace it or if you dont already have one, I suggest one of these free programs:
*Note - do not use more than one anti-virus program as it will more than likely cause conflict.

AVG
Avast
AntiVir

The following free programs are great for prevention:

SpywareBlaster 3.4
Spywareguard
IE/Spyad

A Firewall is a must! Here are 3 good free versions:
(do not have more than one firewall running on your system)

Sygate
Kerio
ZoneLabs

There are other options other than Internet Explorer for a browser, which some say have better security. Two of them are:

Firefox
Opera

If you decide to keep Internet Explorer, This site is a great source for tightening up security on It's settings.

Make sure that you keep your Operating System and IE updated with the latest Critical Security Updates from Microsoft...they usually come out once a month, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
For ease use the following program:

Cleanup
Run "Cleanup" and when it has finished, Reboot

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided. Also read How I got Infected
