I had some problems with mallware and after I did everything suggested in ditto's topic my system continue to generate a windows explorer error report every 3-4 seconds which is extremely annoying. When I send the error report to Microsoft a suggestion appeared that this might be TrojanDownloader:Win32/Purstiu.A. Here's the log:

Download L2mfix from this location:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:

Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intell32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\intell32.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\q207092172_disk.dll

Ensure no windows open except HJT nd click fix checked.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:

Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop

Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

No other signs of mallware left except that error report which continues to appear every few seconds and it seems like it restarts the explorer because every open explorer window closes and the desktop vanishes for 2-3 seconds. All other software is functioning normally. Same thing happens in saffe mode.

Open Notepad, and copy everything in the code box below and paste it into a new notepad file. Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixme.reg on your Desktop. Make sure there is NO blank line above "REGEDIT4"!

Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. When it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.

reboot pc into Safe Mode. rescan with HJT nd check the following:

Download Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.
Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
Unzip it to the desktop.

Boot into safe mode and rescan with HJT. Check the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {31FF080D-12A3-439A-A2EF-4BA95A3148E8} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\q207092172_disk.dll

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click fix checked.

* Please run Killbox.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

Copy and paste the following filepath into killbox

C:\WINDOWS\q207092172_disk.dll

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
Rescan with HJT nd post log back.

Also, what is the exact wording of the error message.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #4 for Run Fix by typing 4 and then pressing enter. This will restore the winlogon defaults.

Now reboot into Safe Mode rescan with HJT nd check the following:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\q207092172_disk.dll (file missing)

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click fix checked.

Reboot normally, rescan with HJT and post the log back.

But Run Fix is #2! #4 is Merge Windows Notify Defaults. I'm not sure which one to choose...
