Hello,

My computer was infected with w32.bloodhound.e after i clean it up with Norton antivirus 2003 (Updated), lavasoft, xoftspy, mcafee and it seems the virus has been removed. but at the system tray there is a red round icon with ballon message stating "your computer infected" if i click the icon it direct me to PSguard site. I think the virus still there.

I had read the previous forum about this kind of virus threat in www.geekstogo.com, and i run the Hijack This program it looks like every computer will generate different logfile from HijackThis.

Here is the output from Hijack This, help and advice from the forum to fix the problem would be much appreciated. I will provide more information if needed

Download smitRem.zip at http://noahdfear.gee.../click.php?id=1 and save the file to your desktop.
Unzip the file to it's own folder on the desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and read the Ewido setup instructions at http://rstones12.gee.../ewidosetup.htm. Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow the download and setup instructions at http://rstones12.gee...areSE_setup.htm. Otherwise, check for updates. Don't run it yet!

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Open the smitRem folder and double click on the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on the screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

Delete these if found:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\intel32.exe

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:

* Click on scanner.
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
* You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
* If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
* Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'.
* If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now.
* When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
* Save the report to your desktop.

Close Ewido.

Next go to Control Panel->Display->Desktop->Customize Desktop->Web-> Uncheck 'Security Info' if present.

Reboot back into Windows and go to http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm to do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked. Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido log (if you ran it).

Hopefuly this log files can track the remaining virus in the computer ... and i realized that my antivirus didnt respond to any virus infected inside the computer ... is this the sign of my computer now clean from the virus? Thank for the help again and really apreciated that.

Check and fix this in HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [delfile] C:\delfiles.cmd

You may also delete that delfiles.cmd file.

There is just one more thing that needs to be removed, but we'll have to do that using PM because it's not for the public yet (author didn't give us permission yet). But besides that:

Your log is clean.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

PS. Check your PM because we still have one more thing to take care of first. So do that first and then reply back here if you are all set to go or not.
