I am having problems with popups and my computer locking up on certain screens.
Within seconds of start up Norton anti-virus program states "intrusion detection...a recent attempt has been made on your computer. Possible black trojan horse.

Then a popup of Generic host process for win 32. Send report to Microsoft. When I go to hit either cancel or dont send neither button works and the screen locks up. If I go to the task manager to end the task (which states the task is running) I can not get the task to stop.
Also if I go to the Norton Security log viewer after clicking on several items the screen will lock up and I can not get the screen to close.
The problem is getting worse. I have Norton and Spybot and have run both of the programs but I have not gotten rid of the problems.

NOW my email is down!!! for the past 3 days I can not use Eudora (but I can get onto the server to view my emails)
error getting network address for "mail.acn.net" Cause: Eudora got tired of waiting for the server 10100.

I have downloaded and used ewido, trojan hunter...could not get panda to work.

I Need your help. Thanks

It sounds as if your firewall might be blocking something legitimate that involves your email client.

I found this on the Eudora forums:
http://eudorabb.qual...p=5148#post5148

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.h...ario&pf=desktop
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.h...ario&pf=desktop

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.h...ario&pf=desktop

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KBD] C:\HP\KBD\KBD.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe" /startup "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0500.dll"

Then reboot and try again.
Although you will be better off without all of the above I don't think it will solve the mail problem.

Let me know.

Thank you for your help.

You were right about not fixing Eudora. After I did everything you said I still can't use my email.

Xoftspy4.15 did remove a trojan from my computer but I am still getting WIN 32 System Error.

Is there anything I can do to remedy the firewall issue?
Thanks

I am not very good with NIS but you could check like this.

Turn the Windows firewall on and turn NIS protection off.

See if it works then. If it does we will have something to go on.

You were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON with the diagnosis. Thank you!!!!!!

I disabled NIS and turned on the windows firewall, then tried Eudora and I was able to download my emails from the server.

Now what should I do? I would like to keep my Norton Security/Firewall vs Microsofts.

I'll do some reading up on NIS or ask someone that knows the firewall to help.

In the meantime I found this:
http://service1.syma...1807593406?Open

Can you try if that helps?
