Hi All! New member here. I have a problem the with NewDotNet dll. (It is the 6_38 one) It is on my computer, and I can not connect to the internet. It seems like that is why, since my ISP's customer service said that there is nothing wrong with my connection.

I have run so many adware, spyware, and antivirus scans, but that does not do anything. McAfee Shredder does nothing, and I can not remove it through the other McAfee way. (Virus scan)

It is not in the list when I go to Add or Remove Programs, either.

I tried a program like that one but I did not get it to work. (By the way, I am doing this on someone else's computer, and that is why I can get on the internet) Maybe the reason is that I was doing it wrong.......

Should I choose to trust NewDotNet, then remove it manually?

I wouldn't trust NewDotNet. They do have an uninstaller, but we usually recommend using other tools to remove it first.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknigh.../spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Click on any file that begins with newdotnet...dll on the left window and click on the arrow pointing to the right. If there are any more newdotnet....dll files, do the same to them also. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

I still can not connect to the internet. I keep getting error messages about my router. It seems ironic, as my ISP's customer service said my connection was fine.

I want you to power off that router now. Leave it off for one minute. Then restart your computer and power it back on after a minute.

No, still no internet connection on my computer. The other computer on my network connects to the internet fine.

But.......I did step on the router accidently not that long ago. (It was during my attempt to fix the connection, I think) the error message I get when I log on to my computer is "Router is Unavailable."

Could that have anything to do with it?

But the other computer could use this router without a problem right? Then it's probably not the router.

Are you connecting wirelessly? Make sure that the wireless card on this computer is working properly. Also check the connection settings (if you encrypted it with WPA/WEP, make sure those keys are correct).

I can think of anything else that could be causing this problem. Most likely a hardware/software problem with this computer.

Try asking this in the Networking Forum and see if anyone knows why this may be happening.

I don't think it's related to spyware anymore since we ran through the main fixes and the connection should be back now. If you want try running WinsockFix again.
