When i go into My Videos in the My Documents folder, my computer freezes up and I get an error saying that Dr. Watson Debugger has caused an error. I don't think it's a virus, but here's my HJT log anyways. Hopefully you guys can help me.

Hi Nick, I really don't like this error. Let's see how it works out after we do some fixing:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Viewpoint
P2P Networking

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://us8l.hpwis.com/
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\
C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

greyknight17,

after i started my computer in safe mode, i went to uninstall the two programs that you listed. the p2p networking apparently was already uninstalled, so it just asked if i wanted to remove the icon from the list; so i did. when i was looking for the viewpoint, i cam across two programs with that name.

Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) size 0.20MB
Viewpoint Media Player size 5.47MB

which one do i uninstall or do i do both?

You don't need either of them, so I say get rid of both.

Greyknight17,

I ended up running System Restore and seems to have corrected the problem. I still went ahead and ran the process you had listed though, since in an earlier topic I had been trying to get rid of those O2 lines. The prior topic can be viewed here. Here is the new HJT log:

Hi Nick, make sure all your programs work since you did the restore.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download FxWebsch but don't run it yet.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=

Run FxWebsch now.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

This is the old log. Are you sure it's still there? Go into HijackThis and just run a scan. See if you can check those O2 entries.

My guess is that it's gone already, but if not we'll remove it. You posted the old log by mistake. I suggest deleting the old hijackthis.log and then try running a new scan. Post that new log here.

OK, it's the stubborn ones :tazz:

We'll have to remove them from the registry using another method. See if this works, if not, we'll have to take the manual approach:

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}]

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it and choose Yes to merge it. You may delete the file afterwards.

Restart and run a new HijackThis log. Post it here.

OK, did all the actions you had listed, but it seems those stubborn files don't want to go away. Is there anything else I can do to try and get rid of them? Heres the new HJT log:

Hi Nick, there's a new infection around and I your log might be related to it. So let's give this a try:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad . Make sure to work through the steps in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fix.
  • Download DSRFIX from HERE onto your Desktop.
    • Unzip and EXTRACT the files to your Desktop.
    • The program creates and names the new folder to house the files.
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • Download Cleanup from Here (Alternate site if the above is not working Go Here)
    • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    • Click OK
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • CLOSE INTERNET EXPLORER, if it is open

  • Open the folder dsrfix
    • Double click on the dsrfix batch file( the one with the little gear in it )
    • Once dsrfix has completed it will close on its own
  • Please restart HJT, put a checkmark next to the following items, and with all windows closed except for HJT, click “Fix Checked” and EXIT the program.

Hey Greyknight17, I tried to do all the actions you had listed for me, but i ran into a few errors. The first occured when I tried to uninstall Limeshop from the Add/Remove progams list. It as listed there, but when I tried to uninstall it, I got an error message. The message said:

ERROR: Could not execute Main: The system cannot find the file specified.

The file C:\Program Files\Limeshop was also not present, and therefore could not be deleted. Here is the latest HJT log:

OK, we'll have to remove those registry entries manually then. It's the only way. If it doesn't exist, then just move on to the next one:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\ and delete {8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\ and delete {8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ and delete {8575CDC5-2A7B-B449-2B4C-6472258ACDA2}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\ and delete {A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\ and delete {A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ and delete {A6401F7C-CC65-7BF0-A1F2-45E0E6668FC7}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\ and delete {ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\ and delete {ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ and delete {ACB083C8-ECE1-6BB2-2830-3AF9148BA724}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\ and delete {F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\ and delete {F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ and delete {F5B56639-3736-04E3-A73C-046A437C8CCF}

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc Tools->Open Uninstall Manager and look for Limeshop on the left. Once found, click on it once and click on the Delete button in the HijackThis program.

Now restart and post a new HijackThis log.

Did all the steps you had listed, but i was only able to delete two of the entries. It appears that those entries are no longer listed in the HJT log. Here's the newest one:
