HELP ME PLEASE SOMEONE !!!!!

After opening the control panel from the start menu I get a white screen with the normal options as usual but when I take the Other control panel options I get the following message

These Control Panel options are not available

THE content of the Control Panel category has been made unavailbe by your system admininistrator. To make changes in this area, contact your system administrator.......



I am the administrator......!!!!

HELP......

Not the only issue I have, have tried the malware link but unsure if i have fixed things or not

download, unzip, double click, say yes to merge....fix it?

did you unzip it, then double click the REG file? Then say yes to merge?

uhm, huh?

download fixpolicy.zip from post #2.

Unzip it.

Double click the policyfix.reg. It will ask you if you want to merge into the registry. Say YES

Can you now access your control panel?

can access control panel but still white background..........

my task bar is grey not green and blue as normal xp settings

And IO have NOT changed anything on it

Am I nuts or has something done this to my laptop ????

Driving me crazy !!!

I really feel something has got hold of my laptop, I tried the malware links but have no idea what I ma doing to be honest !!!.... Should I download them all at once then run them once I am off line ( I am on broadband, just, and should I turn off McAfee ...... this always turns Black and says spamkiller is disabled when I log on .............)

I just dont feel confident that my laptop is ok


Your help is muchly appreciated

let's rule out malware before going any farther...please post a hijackthis log found in my signature and post it here...if I see something, I will redirect you to malware for a cleaning, andif the problem still remains, we can work it out after, but if there is malware, we need to have that cleared first

OK, looks clean for our purposes....I do not see any issues that will prevent us from addressing this.

Start > Run
regedit
enter


navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

right click that folder and export it to your desktop as a temp.reg
