Hi, I am repeatedly getting warnings from AVG that it is detecting a virus while opening file msdirectx.sys. Virus being detected is Trojan Horse Collected.5.L. I have deleted the file a number of times but it keeps coming back. I don't know how to remove this. Please help!

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Hello Gerryf

Thanks for he reply. I did have a look at other posts. I think the main thing is to download Hijackthis.exe, which I did but I can't seem to install it. Maybe the worm is stopping it from being installed. When I click on the exe file a dialogue box appears but vanishes in a jiffy. I am sorry if I am bugging you with this but am new to this. Please bear and help!

Warm regards
