I just bought a new computer. I had my last one for 3 years so I like the desktop to have the same layout. :tazz: I have 2 icons beside the time. One called "Sound Effect" and the other called "Safely Remove Hardware." How do I get rid of them? I have looked all places on my computer that I could think of but can't find where to remove the icons. Anybody have a suggestion?

Do not remove the Safely Remove Hardware, except by removing the hardware in question. If you decide to use some peripherals you will need it when you disconnect them to prevent damage or loss of data.

The "Sound Effect" icon is for a "sound tweaker" that is bundled with the onboard audio on your (Asus?) MoBo. You can remove it from the system tray by right clicking on it and choosing "Exit"...it will return each time you reboot, though. It's acutally kind of a neat gizmo for tweaking sound...try playing with it, you might just deside you want to keep it.

"and on the remove icon i am only given the option to safely remove hardware. "

the safely remove hardware icon is neccessary....do not attempt to remove it...if you use anything that plugs into a usb port you will use this icon
