Hi,
My norton has been repeatedly announcing that I have the bloodhound virus and it can't repair it. Can someone please help me?

I posted a help request a couple of days ago but got no response. And so am trying again. Hopefully with better luck.

Thanks

I guess I should also mention that I followed all the recommended steps: Ran cleanup, ad-aware, cwshredder, ewido, spybot, trend housecall, trojan, windows update and hijack this. They managed to remove intmon.exe, intmonp.exe,shnlog.exe, msole32.exe and popuper.exe but the bloodhound virus still remains.

Here is the log of my HJT file:

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Thanks for your response,
I tried installing the XP updates but it kept on failing. I checked and it's because windows can't validate my license. I spoke to microsoft and they said that the license number is not valid. Simultaneously my office folks are checking why this may have happened. (My laptop is a used office computer that my company sold to its employees which came loaded with all the software).

Is there anything I can do in the meanwhile? Or will I need to wait till they sort this out on Monday?

Thanks for your advice.
