I work for a company that uses a Windows 2000 server. On this server there are word files that the users need to access. Recently I have had issues with the end users computers freezing while trying to access these files. The machines that are freezing are all windows 98 machines. I have ran spyware, antivirus scans, disk check, and defragments on both the end machines and the server to no avail. The problem isnt consistent the file will open fine and the next time it will freeze. Sometimes it freezes while opening the file and sometimes while closing. Short of just upgrading the machines I have no idea what to do to fix the problem any help you could offer would be great

Try increasing file caching size at your own risk.
