wireless router strong signal no internet

I have a Linksys wireless router connected directly to my cable modem. I've tried connecting to the router with wireless and with a cable and in both instances the connection status shows packets sent and recieved but when I try to connect to the web with internet explorer,I get a DNS error page.

try disabeling your wired connection and just using the wireless....i've had issues with my laptop where if i used the wireless then tried to go to wired it would not work...and vice versa

I tried that still get a DNS error when I try to load IE. I also tried rebooting the modem, router and computer. Is there anything else I can try?

Here's something that I tried that worked for me after I got the network running, but no internet connectivity at all. Cycle the cable modem. Reset it. As soon as I reset the modem I was in business.

The router must of been defective, I exchanged it for another one and everything is working fine now.
