I want to change the apperance of my start menu in windows 98. At present it has the windows 98 logo in a blue bar. How can I change this? Also, how do I change the startup screen. I've changed the windows loading and windows shutting down screens with no problem, but I can't do anything about the startup screen.

what do you mean by start screen you say you changed the loading screen
is that not the start screen or do you mean the screen that is your desktop?
when the computer has started right click on the desktop go to propertities
and change the themes in there. Is this what you were after

Hmmm, I think I know what she wants to do... Are you trying to replace the Windows Shell? (I did that when running Win98...) You can actually setup Windows to where instead of using EXPLORE.EXE as the shell, it uses something else.

I used GeoShell Its a nice replacement, plenty of themes and add-ons.

And from my own experience, the comp seemed to run slightly faster and crash less when I wasn't using the default Windows shell.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear:-( My question was actually two separate ones.
Let me try again.

In windows 98 there is a "Start Button" in the taskbar on the desktop. When you click this button a "menu" pops up (programs, settings, find, help, shut down). There is a blue bar on the left side of this menu that has windows 98 on it.

I want to be able to either eliminate this blue bar or change the color of it.
That's the end of my first question. I'll worry about the second one later.
