Burnt cd still blank

I don't know what happend but when I tell my computer to burn a cd with Nero/Windows/clone cd/windows mediaplayer It goes thru like it is burning the cd but the cdr is still blank. HELP.

(I am not a noob when it comes to tech stuff. But this still boogles my mind)

once nero gave me a power configration one. Don't recall how it put it :tazz: But after I installed a newer version of nero it just pretends to write it.

Says it burned the cd put the cd back in and it is blank.

Is the drive very old, been used lots?

Difficult to see why all the writing programmes are not giving error messages
