my pc is infected with something but I don't know what. I had mcafee antivirus and adaware se on my pc. Mcafee as we know doesn't do squat and for some reason adaware se conflicted with something on my pc so I had to remove it. So I now have AVG Free Edition and Microsoft Antispyware. I also run CWS Shredder, Trend Micro Housecall, Trend Micro spyware remover and Xblock online scan. Yet I still have internet explorer poping up all the time. I followed your star procedures and installed or ran some of the programs you suggest on your site. Here is my Hijackthis log.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

DAEMON Thanks for your reply!!! I did what you said and I downloaded L2mfix from the links you provided. I ran option 1 as you instructed. I got an error saying AUTOEXECT wasn't suitable to run cmd.exe I clicked ignore and then the notepad log came up. So here is the log.

OK, first go here:

http://www.tech-foru...opic/29806.html

download and install the fix for your version of Windows.

Then, close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

It self extracts to the right place - do as it prompts.

Click here to download Nailfix. Save it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe. Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish". Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {ACD94AE1-80B6-4332-87B0-7DFDFADB4CD6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ozsqt.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [guarnset] C:\WINDOWS\system32\guarnset.exe
O16 - DPF: {084F552D-19EB-4668-9788-984CBC781A8F} (AsyncDownloader Class) - http://survey.otxres...m/Preloader.dll
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here.

Do the HJT fixes and post a new log - we can take it from there.

OK. Do this for me. Click here to download ServiceFilter, a little script by rand1038 that reveals potential unauthorised running services in your system. Download, unzip and double-click ServiceFilter.vbs (you may need to enable your antivirus program to run the file). This script will create a text file named Post_This.txt in the same folder as the script itself has been saved - copy and paste the contents of Post_This.txt in your next reply here.
