I was not able to find either windows\system32\egnsxs.exe 0r lshosts32.exe in Safe Mode.

I still have no start button or desk top. I also cannot print, and my ability to use some websites (like ActiveScan) is impaired.

Are we heading in the right direction?

Login as usual and now right click on your Desktop and go to Properties. Next go to Desktop tab->Customize Desktop button->Web tab. Uncheck everything listed there. Then delete all the entries listed except for 'My Current Home Page'. Click OK and OK.


Post a new hijack log when done and tell me how it went

Still no Start Button and no icons. However, I also didn't find My Current Home Page on the Web Desktop area.

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

I couldn't run it. When I tried to run it, I received a message that said that my Windows Management Instrumentation is not running, and must be enabled. Hwever, when I go through Task Manager to get to WMI, it says that it is running.

Nothing seems to be happening with the Jotti scan, unless it is just very very slow...

Actually lets see what Ewido shows. Boot into safemode and do a scan with Ewido and save the log and post it back.
