AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 (939)
$858.00 $858.00

Do you want just drooling and groveling? Or, some advice too? :D

The FX CPU is not worth the premium price. It only gains you a few percentage points.

2GB memory? :D What are you using this system for? May want to consider 1GB, you can always upgrade later if needed.

Nice System! <_<

I would recommend the EVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800GT b/c it is cheaper $399 and its BIOS can be flashed to the Ultra and overclocked to 420/1115. I hope this helps

DHooper Flashing the bios is a risking process and can lead to screwing the card all together. I wouldn’t recommend doing it unless you are 100 percent sure you are getting the right software to flash the bios.

I can not drool or grovel over what you are getting because I know its an absolute waste of money. 2 Gig of ram? What’s this computer for? Playing Games? Home use? If its playing games you only need 1 gig…. Is that ddr2? You want ddr2

The case I guess is good I have a damier v6000a but be wary of this cases the wiring is a [removed language] and over the period of 6+ Months I had this case I have spent over 16 Hours rewiring it to "Perfecto".

Power supply is [removed] get an ultra x connect or the new ocz help lose the clutter in the pc. All that money on a cpu? Is it really worth it? Does it have good reviews what are people saying about it etc? From my point of few just looking at the price makes me wonder why you aren’t getting an 2x lcd monitors?
Graphics card looks good the new 6800 chipsets are meant to rock.
The fans a fan... If it can run at a fast speed and it has a good head sink you should be rockin n’ rolling.
Monitor I would waste my money that’s crappy and you can pick up an lcd for a little over that.
The DVD burner is [removed] get the pioneer dvr-ao8xlb
52x CD-Rom drive because you need to install your games 5 minutes faster than the rest of us :tazz: ;)
Sure you’re not a professional?
Being a L33t cs player I know I need the lowest latency my mouse can give me so I can own the server.
Logitech have some good multi media keyboard, I would recommend that if this is a games pc.
Cold Cathodes, sure what ever.
What are the leds for? Doesn’t make sense
You get fans with the case.... Don’t waste the money.
The mobo make sure it has pci express and get one of those pci express graphics cards(The one you have is not pci express) unless you just got into the mood of wasting a ton of money on something that’s going to see the swap meet in about 7 months something around that.

Personally….. I would be on a super review hunt reading and reading finding out what’s good and what’s not. I’m quiet tired and don’t feel like reading up about the amd motherboards and chipsets and how much you can probably benefit from it all.

P.S. Is this a gamer’s pc? Enthusiast? Or you got a sugar mumma and dada?

It was a close call, but you have some constructive criticisms. I did edit some language -- this is a family forum, accessible by all. Let's keep it clean. :tazz:

First, Im no idoit when it comes to computer there Zamuel. If the video card bites the dust, who cares it is only money. I always check and double check before I flash my video BIOS. Second, The hardware is based on personal preference. I myself like the Intel P4, where others like AMD 64 and thats fine but you should say that it is crap, but instead sugguest they to look at the AMD 64 and give reasons for the switch. And another question why are you posting to a topic that has all most been dead for a month?? A good rule of thumb on any board, is to always read the rules before posting.

Hooper if you were "no idiot" you would be totally aware that soft modding can be very dangerous and lead to lose of hardware and in most cases does nothing to the card but allow it to over-heat and lose life..
Now you have thrown a few balls into my court and its time for me to hit them back.

1. "I myself like the Intel P4, where others like AMD 64 and that’s fine but you should say that it is crap, but instead suggest they to look at the AMD 64 and give reasons for the switch."
Your not making sense. Because I never said it was "Crap" or abuse you for being a Intel P4 fan, I am myself as I much prefer the whole heat thing :tazz: ;)
I said is it worth it? Errrrrr  !

2. "And another question why are you posting to a topic that has all most been dead for a month?? A good rule of thumb on any board, is to always read the rules before posting."
You think? I noticed that dates and noticed the lovely help and advice you gave this "newbie". The only thing coming from you Hooper was how to kill the graphics card and need a replacement within 1.5 years... I mean lovely, I'll leave you to keep posting in your "Already dead forum"
"Admin’s: Haven’t had time to read the conditions of posting etc and on how brutal you can be on sarcasm and comments." <-- Simply an act of idiocy

I don't like the direction this thread is headed. :tazz: I think the original poster was asking for trouble with this title.

I'm sure this system has long ago been purchased. Please stay on topic, and no personal attacks.

If you want to continue this discussion, please start a new thread.
