Hello, I have just registered on this site, and some of this is way over my head with the log files. Basically, I updated Norton Antivirus 2005 Friday, got a pop up for WinFixer 2005, blanked out on my end and allowed the download to start. Realized my problem, stopped the download, and now when I start up my computer the archery target icon appears, and the download starts, even though there is nothing to download. Have read the threads and just can't understand some of the fixes.

Please help.

I have figured out how to download the Hijack This program, and I am going to do a scan in safe mode. I will then post my logfile, and hope someone can help me. I will continue to read other threads as well.

Thanks!!! :tazz:

I followed all the instructions, downloaded the peperifx tool and ran it twice. Each time it stated that nothing had the peper trojan.

I went to uninstall the programs you told me and there were none to be found except the web rebates, which I uninstalled.

I then rebooted in safe mode and opened Hijack This and put an X by all the items, clicked on Fix Checked and exited.

Went to Windows Explorer, and none of the items were found.

And then clicked on the pandasoftware link, tried to run the free scan, but it would not download to my computer.

That is where I am at.

I can send a log from Hijack This if I need to.

Please advise.

Thanks again!!!

Hi Sipey

If you look at my last post at the bottom of the fix in red it states>

Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.log We will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

So yes we do need to see a new HJT.log scanned in normal mode.

I will do the HiJack Log later tonight. I can not do a panda log since I cannot download the virus scan.

Thanks!

Hi Sipey

The panda scan only works with Windows Internet explorer.

You really need to run that scan.

Hi Sipey

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop; please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run killbox and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSUPD.EXE

Let the system reboot as normal.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.logWe will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.
