Need some help here...
XP system, new PC, Installed a fire wire that worked perfectly well on my old PC. The system recognizes the E1394 connection, and when operating the video camera prompts an editing with the studio 9 I have. I can operate the camera from the PC, BUT THE MINUTE THE VIDEO CAMERA STARTS TO PLAY - THE PC FREEZES OR SHUTS DOWN.

I AM LOST...
Any advice ? Any one heard of this issue ?
Thanks for helping !!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Need more info to formulate a plan:

OLD SYSTEM:
(1) – Fire wire Installation: Is this a PCI card? and What was Operating System of old PC? WIN 95/98
(2) – Was video camera installed & functional on Old System?
(3) – Did old system support Fire wire?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
NEW SYSTEM:
(1) – What Service Pack installed on New System?
(2) – Is New System a Laptop or Desktop? or Tower?
(3) – What is Name and Model Number of New System?
(4) – What is Name and Model Number of Motherboard of New System?
(5) – Does Device Manager show Video Camera? Is there any Yellow Exclamation Point? or Question Mark?
(6) – Expand IEEE 1394 Controller & Double click on IEEE 1394 Host Controller View Driver Details- What
is version of Driver?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
VIDEO CAMERA
(1) – If Fire wire PCI Card . . .Name & Model Number. . . Do have installation Disk?
(2) – Name of Camera & Model Number
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Possible problems:

1- wrong driver installed for IEEE 1394
2- wrong driver installed for video camera
3 – Too high of current draw of video camera IEEE 1394 Port
4 – If Fire wire port is PCI Card –was there a external power connector on board ? Is it connected?
5 – May need an external Powered IEEE 1394 HUB
6 – Need Service Pack support installation

Were the Applications: [MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER] [PCI MODEM] [RAID CONTROLLER] already installed
on computer? – did you install them? – or have someone install them? Report in POST . . . ITEM (1)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ACPI is not the name of your Motherboard

ACPI
(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) A power management specification developed by Intel, Toshiba and Microsoft that makes hardware status information available to the operating system. ACPI enables a PC to turn its peripherals on and off for improved power management especially in portables.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Press & Hold the: [WINDOW] Key –(located between the left [CTRL] & left [ALT] Keys) –
AND Press: [PAUSE – BREAK] Key:

This should bring up [SYSTEM PROPERTIES] - Press [GENERAL] TAB

It should list:
1 – System
2 – Registered to
3 – Product key
4 – Computer . . . . . This should be Motherboard information. . . . . Report in POST. . . ITEM (2)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It appears that you may have:
(1) – Driver Conflict – Camera & Video Driver
(2) – IRQ Resource Conflict - Multimedia Audio Controller and/or PCI Modem and/or Raid Controller

Can you navigate to [SYSTEM INFORMATION] Folder & down thru ]HARDWARE RESOURCES] to
[CONFLICTS & SHARING]?? and report contents of Folder in POST? . . . . . . . ITEM (3)

POST back ITEM (1) – (2) – (3)

Looks as if it may be video driver conflict..Have to finish some other posts for now.

Download Everest Home Edition at this site:
http://www.lavalys.com/

Download - Install - Run It will have all info that will be needed.

Maybe someone from Staff may pick up on this . . . while I finish up on another problem.

I think the camera is loaded/installed but conflicts with video

You can post a report from Everest . . . if/when more info is needed/required . . . .

It is close to solving

OK – I have Canon web site for Canon MV 400i - What Country are you in?

Driver for Canon MV 400i Camera Download :>> dvns.exe at bottom of page -(30 + Mb)
Browse around this Web site – It appears to be what you need – see you can download the Manual to look at

http://www.canon.com...0i_drivers.html

Does this look like your camera? Looks like MS Messenger is communication link between PC & camera – Does that sound/look familiar?

FAQ for Canon MV 400i Camera
http://www.canon.com...&mode=faq&w=crm

Hope this helps
