[awoundedliar]

I've downloaded and run every anti-spyware program I know of, and I am still getting numerous popups and random programs being downloaded onto my computer. This isn't proving to be one of those problems I can research and fix on my own , thus here is my HijackThis log.

Uninstall Viewpoint via the Add/Remove panel.

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Make sure you give me the above log file first before proceeding any further.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing Enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2MFix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

When I try to run option 2, it restarts my computer fine but then neglects to run the scan or produce a log. I have Windows XP, and am required to sign in when it restarts, if that has anything to do with it.

It shouldn't be a problem. OK, go back into the l2mfix folder. Do you see a file called second.bat? If you do, I want you to run that now. After that's done, give me that l2mfix log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Restart and run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the free online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. If any are not cleanable, copy and paste the infected files here. You may also use Panda ActiveScan at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Uninstall the Java version you have and install Java version 1.4.2 instead (if you don't have that version already). Try TrendMicro again at the end (see below).

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc Tools->Delete an NT service and type in SvcProc and hit OK.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for SvcProc and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Check and fix in HijackThis if found:

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - D:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Delete these if found:

D:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\m67m.inf
D:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\SAMATHA\APPLICATION DATA\Sskknwrd.dll
D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\auto_update_uninstall.log
D:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\APPLICATION DATA\vidctrl
D:\Downloads\backups\backup-20050803-005709-246.dll

Delete everything in this infected folder:
D:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender Free Edition\Infected\

Restart and run a new Panda scan. Post that log and the new HijackThis log.
