Thanks for any help you might offer ... I'm at the end of my rope. I also realize that this issue has probably been addressed in other forums, but my search skills are about as limited as my ability to cope with problems such as described here...

to wit: trying to map joystick button commands for my M-soft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, but when I click the "recorder" tab to do so via the provided software, I get the message:

""Runtime Error!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

I monkeyed around with startup options via msconfig, and now, when I attempt to map keys on the joystick through the game controllers interface, I get a message stating," An exception occurred while trying to run "Shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL Joy.CPL"


I have gone through myriad spyware and malware detection/elimination procedures, but they found nothing at all wrong with my system. I run Windows XP with SP2 installed. I will attempt to attach my HyjackThis Log.... and again, thanks for any help you may offer
