I've got a friend who frequently attaches images to his emails. The default behavior on most email clients is to open a window entitled "Select Image File" with the "Files of type" being listed as Image files (no listing of .bmp, .jpg, etc). The default view in this window is the List view.

My friend would like to have the default view in the "Select Image File" window to be Thumbnail view.

Anyone know how to accomplish this, or even if it's possible? I tried setting all my folders to Thumbnail view, and the Select Image File window still comes up in list view.

One reason may be that images may harbor malware so many email clients won't open the automatically.
