Yep -- jumped the gun a bit. Verizon was trying to set things up, but I cannot disconnect the router so it can find the modem, so I have to set it up.

I have a Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter in my Network adapters list. Is this my modem????

modem wont list under modems as you are not really installing a modem in your computer. you need the files to connect to the modem/router
