Im thinking of doing podcasting.

Is it like a live radio station where people just type in yourdomain.com/radio or something and they listen to what you are playing / saying.

Like your own radio??? :tazz:

okay here is how i got started for free!!!

okay first of all you need to kow what podcasting is: it is an audio file that is linked to by an rss feed, the rss feed gives it the ability to be automatical downloaded by any podcasting application/rss reader (remember the rss feed is important). to learn more about what a podcast is and more about rss go to:

http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Podcasting
http://searchenginew...cle.php/2175271
http://www.podcastal...s_a_podcast.php

okay now lets get started to record your podcast you'll need a mic and an audio recording application a great free audio app. is audacity:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
this is the best audio editor you'll ever find for free. after you record your podcast you'll need to export it as an mp3 (on audacity you'll need to download a free pulgin at least on mac, just google it to find it)(cnet has a great weekend project video on reecording a podcast)

next you'll need to put your podcast on the web this can be pricey job unless you use ourmedia: http://www.ourmedia.com/ these guys will host your media for nothing which is an awsome sevrice they provide

once you get the link of where your media is you need to put it on the web now you can make web page and write your own rss feed this is difficult and can be expensive but once you do it the results can be awsome but if your not a pro i don't recremend this the other way that you can go which is the way i went is do it as a blog! i use blogger: http://www.blogger.com/start this is a free servise provided by google and is not the preferable blogging service but for the price how can you beat it. now what you have to do is start posting(you may have to go into settings on blogger and enable shaow link field) put the name of of your post the link of the audio file and any notes you have!

once you have your post up you can see you feed on blogger at
yourbloggerurl/atom.xml
now this feed is not a podcast feed or rss feed it is an atom feed which is more for news. so how do i turn my feed into rss 2.0 feed without spending a fortune i found it
the servise i recremend for the price is:

http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home

these guys will totally rewrite your feed it the correct spripting and give you a wide range of options, they will give you a whole new feed url and will include the itunes eliments (feed burner is free as long as you don't go pro)

to find out more about using feedb. and blogger go to:
http://www.podcastin...st_Blogger.html

to help people find out about your podcast or to learn more about making a podcast go to:

http://www.podcastalley.com/

now you need a program to recieve your podcast one of the best oones you don't have to pay for is: http://ipodder.sourc...e.net/index.php

good luck with podcasting and ask me if you have any questions i hope this helped you out tell me how you do and if you need more info go to google

to see a sample of what your podcast could look like you could see my blog and feed(it isn't a pro job at all) at:

Thanks!

But what i want to do is set up a live internet radio so people that want to listen will go to...

www.allsortshop.com/radio

And then they will be able to listen my radio station live.

Do you know how to do that??? :tazz:

Shoutcasting, it's a live show. If you've got winamp...then head on over to www.shoutcast.com . Then download the DSP plug-in and the server GUI software and start recording. They have some help guides over at the site that go more in-depth about how to do it.
