It is a very obscure one at that but I hope someone will be kind enough to assist me. It seems I have lost my Windows XP Theme. (I have been trying to remove spyware and I may have deleted something.) When I go to the display options in my control panel and select Windows XP I get the classic 'Bliss' background but my theme is instead Windows Classic. If anyone has any idea of what files I may have deleted accidently.. please let me know. If anyone has any assistance that they can lend, please share. Thanks again!

Well, I guess I wonder why you would even want that boring ole windows xp picture for your desktop background.
I take digital pictures of the sky and clouds and colorful flowers in my gardens....they are a whole lot more fun to look at than the Windows XP theme picture.
All you have to do is right click on any picture. and then click: Set as desktop background...you can even have them rotating if you want.
(I could email you some GORGEOUS pictures)~lol~
Sincerely, Janie
I only kept the XP background picture until I learned how to have something better.

Which theme do you want, the windows xp classic?? if so do a search in this forum, and there are little files that you can download and put into place that will bring it back for you.

Unzip it to your desktop. Then using windows explorer MOVE the luna.msstyles file to this folder:
C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna
Don't move it to anywhere other than that folder! *NOTE* luna.msstyles may still be there, but it needs to be replaced with this one.
When you have moved it there, rightclick on your desktop > properties and look to see if Windows XPstyle is present again. Choose apply and OK.
If not, reboot then try to select Windows XPstyle
this may help found in another thread.

Well, try what Woody suggests first.
Since you WANT your old favorite desktop back (instead of a CUSTOM
picture) I wonder if you have tried this simple procedure.....
Right click on your desktop screen picture that shows now.
Click on Properties.
In the Display Properties that comes up, look on the Themes tab
for a drop-down box to choose different themes.
Your favorite theme picture should be there...
There are many others to choose from.
Sincerely, Janie

That is a good suggestion Janie. Also there is (should be) a browse option or an option to retrieve themse from the net.
Remember themes are more than just the background. It is your icons and sounds as well. If you made any changes yuo may have modified the original theme.

Thanks 'garyo'....My goodness, compliments sure feel good!
I am glad 'melted rose' started this thread because I had gotten into a rut and
had forgotten all about the different XP themes....
You were right, I was thinking desktop background and theme were the same
thing.
When I right clicked on my desktop picture and then clicked on 'properties',
this is the choices I have. (meltedrose, do you also have these choices for Theme?)
Modified
My Current
Windows XP
Windows Classic
More themes online
Browse
I clicked on Windows Classic and the background came of the field and sky,
surrounded with a bright royal blue...even highligtomg is the same blue instead
of black.
But I wanted my own garden picture so I right clicked on one of my favorties that are stored in my computer, and it is the background (the classic one disappeared) but the pretty blue task bars remain.
COOL.
Janie
P. S. Oh, and instead of having the boring XP screensavor, I clicked on BEZIERS.....wow, is it PRETTY AND FUN TO WATCH!
