I followed this thread
http://www.geekstogo...t41531-s30.html

I have sucessfully removed all files related to this trojan, HOWEVER, these remain in my registry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

There is NO WAY to remove them.
I tried adding this to the registry...

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"Service"="WinIK"

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINIK\0000]
"DeviceDesc"="WinIK"

It said it wrote the above to the registry, but there was no affect on the entries. Manual deletion of the above registry entries does not work in Normal or Safe Mode. I believe these LEGACY entries are affecting my computer. The one problem I am having now is that I cannot shutdown or reboot. It just hangs at CLOSING NETWORK CONNECTIONS.

Any ideas on how to remove these reg entries??

Found solution...Right click registry entry and select Permissions. Check box to ALLOW Everyone to entry.
Then you can delete the entry.

Backup registry first.

We are glad that you found a solution to your problem. We dont normally recommend to our users to mess around in the registry, purely because of the potential problems.

I am going to close this thread, but before I do I need to post a warning.

Do not try this type of solution unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing first. The fix that worked for this user may not work for your computer. Each infection is normally a bit different.
