I've got no other options, but to solder another keyboard port onto the PC..

Any advice on that?

hope you are good with solder!!! Be aware most Motherboards are multilayer so you may not be able to get all the connections you need.

How old is the pc, it may just be easier to get another. You would be surprised how little a recycled machine can be gotten.
