Did everything in your "You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Required steps before posting your log."

CleanUp!
Ad-aware SE(changed the settings as instructed)
CWShredder
Spybot S&D
Ewido Security Suite(downloaded & running)
Trend Housecall & Panda Activescan (ran both twice)
AVG(downloaded & running)

I downloaded and ran everything. I restarted my computer and when I rescanned, somethings that were "removed", were still there, or came back.

For Example:
Spybot - Search & Destroy displayed the following
Advertising.com
Avenue A,Inc.
DoubleClick
FastClick
PSGuard

Ad-Aware se
malware.Psguard

ewido came up w/ a warning
File: intell32.exe
Path: C:\WINNT\system32
Infection: Trojan.Small.ev

Please help!!! I do not know what else to do. I tried deleting the psguard in my the program files folder - but that did not help. I downloaded hijack this in a folder called HJT in my hard drive. Here is the log:

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Make sure all hidden files and folders are visible (Instructions )

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Scan again with HijackThis and check the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! Companion - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Companion\Installs\cpn0\ycomp5_5_7_0.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RegSvr32] C:\WINNT\system32\msmsgs.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zSPGuard] c:\program files\pjw\spguard\spguard.exe /s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intell32.exe] C:\WINNT\system32\intell32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PSGuard spyware remover] C:\Program Files\PSGuard\PSGuard.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.EXE 1
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (HKCU)

After checking these items, close all browser windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked".

Find and delete these files and folders (if they are still there):
C:\WINNT\System32\msmsgs.exe <= this file
C:\WINNT\System32\intell32.exe <= this file
C:\Program Files\PSGuard <= this folder
C:\Program Files\pjw <= this folder
C:\Program Files\AWS <=this folder

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan.
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt (C:\smitfiles.txt) log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Please go to 'start' --> 'run' --> type: 'regedit' and click 'OK'

Then please navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Click on the services key so you see a list of the services in the right section. Scroll through those services till you find one that has WinTools in it and right click on it and delete the WinTools service.

Then reboot and tell me if you found it...

Click on the services key so you see a list of the services in the right section. Scroll through those services till you find one that has WinTools in it and right click on it and delete the WinTools service.

Then reboot and tell me if you found it...

but I was unable to find Wintools in

It is okay if Ewido tells you that you are clean. I think the result of the Panda is a false positive, and it is harmless for your system.

==================================

This log looks clean!
  • Don't forget to re-hide all files and folders. To re-hide all files and folders:
    • Open My Computer.
    • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    • Select the View Tab.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders heading deselect "Show hidden files and folders".
    • Check the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    • Click Yes to confirm.
    • Click OK.
  • This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read the article behind this link "How did I get infected". If you don't already have them, you need an antivirus that is updated, a good firewall for example Kerio Personal Firewall or ZoneLabs Zone Alarm, a spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster and also IE-Spyads and spyware detection (Ad-aware SE and SpyBot S+D). All of these have good free versions available... be very cautious about any security software that advertises in popups or other intrusive ways, they are not only usually useless, but also often have malware in them....

    Instead of Internet Explorer, use a different browser like Opera, Mozilla or Firefox.

    Last, but not least, you need to keep Windows and Internet Explorer up to date by getting all the latest security patches that protects your computer.

    This can be accessed by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and following the prompts.

    Please post back if you are still having any problems....

I followed all your instructions. I now have the following installed:
1. CWShredder
2. CleanUp!
3. SpywareBlaster
4. spybot search & destroy
5. AVG anti virus
6. ewido security suite
7. Zone Alarm
8. Ad-Aware SE Personal

Thank you so much for your help! Looks like everything is back to normal. THANKS once again! You guys are awesome!
