Hi, I've had Dr Watson errors freezing my computer for the past day or two when I try and right click. Can somone please help, it would be massively appreciated.

Did you run those programs in the sticky topic yet? If not, run them now.

I don't see anything here that's suspicious but we know about this problem you have.

Did you install any codecs (for playing movie files) recently? If you did, I want you to uninstall them now. Restart and see if Dr. Watson still comes back.

Hi, I went through all the processes which the guide suggests and all turned up clear. I did however recently have a problem with codecs, having to update for HL2 I found I hgad to update to a certain version, then from that get the most recent. How do I go about uninstalling the new one which I installed?

Do you remember what codec that was? Check teh Add/Remove panel to see if it's there.

Does the dr. watson error come up when you right click anywhere, or only in folders that have video files in them?

Interestingly the drwatson problem does only come up when I right click videos - I hadn't noticed that before.
All it says about drivers in add/remove is:
NVIDIA drivers
NVIDIA 2000/Xp display drivers

Did you install any new video drivers lately? Or are those nVidia drivers the only one you installed?

I think some will say ...something...codec next to them in Add/Remove panel. See if you can spot any of those.

I installed new...detonators (are they called?) recently, but i cant find them in add/remove.
The nvidia ones in the add/remove screen dont say codec either.

Try uninstalling the video drivers. You will also need to remove them in the Device Manager. Right click My Computer->Properties->Hardware->Device Manager and delete the nVidia entries.

Restart and reinstall those drivers. Check out the video files and see if they still show the Dr. Watson error.
