Help! I, too am getting the buffer overrun detected error on my Yahoo browser. I don't know if one thing has to do with another BUT my memory is being sucked dry! I upgraded/installed an additional 256 MB 2 days ago and I'm already at 144 MB available physical memory! I spoke with a Dell tech rep. and he was NO HELP!Please , can you help?

Well, I followed your instructions and did not find the C:\WINDOWS\System32\Microsoftx.exe file when I restarted in safemode. I will let you know if I get anymore overrun errors. Thank you. BTW, did you happen to know if that problem would account for my memory loss or how to get it back? Thanks again for all your help!

This is normal for Windows. It uses additional memory to cache files, and improve performance. If you think about it, what good is the extra memory if your system isn't using it?

I have the same problem. Today I installed 512MB of RAM into my computer. I now have total memory of ~1150MB. When I log on to NetZero two error messages pop up saying that there has been a buffer overrun and that netzero must shut down. If I leave the error windows up I am able to stay online, which is why I can ask for help here. I used HighJackThis and came up with this log.
