can my new video card cause this

ok guys another video card problem from me. right whats happening is i have installed a new xfx geforce fx5200 i know its crap but its for my mums pc. it was working fine for a day until when i booted it up it loads up all fine then when it gets to the desktop it goes blank and the conmputer freezes pls help

Possibly, you need to list your system specs. (Mainboard, CPU, RAM ect...)

Try booting into safe mode, restart and press F8 before and during Windows loading until you come to the boot menu, then go into safe mode.

yes i can go into sfae mode my specs are..
1.6ghz amd athlon xp
768 pc2100 ram
40 gb hardrive
geforce fx5200 128 ddr
my mainboard is an asus but i dont know the model number from heart

also im running on windows xp

done it and i have the new driver but it stays on for a little bit longer then it either goes black or locks up

i have done some research into this and some people resolved this by getting a new psu what do you think

i have checked the psu and it says it maxes out at 300w

heres another thing when the screen goes black if i leave it, it restarts the pc and goes through a cycle sort of thing, so i left it to see what would happen and when i got back to the pc it was all on and running and a load of error messages were up telling me about my display driver so i wonder what is happening because i restarted it and it went black again :tazz: so pls help
