Husband has an excel spreadsheet he's been using for years. Saved to it yesterday but it won't let us open it now. We keep getting the error message, .xls cannot be accessed. This file may be read only or you may be trying to access a read only location. Or the server the document is stored on may not be responding. I was able to copy it to my documents but still won't open. Emailed to a different computer but lost a lot of the data.

right click on it and do properties...see if it somehow got marked as read only...
