Win XP missing browseui.dll file

i have a gateway 510sp with windows xp. When i turn the computer on a window appears saying that 'cannot find browseui.dll files. Reinstalling may cure problem.' It then shows my existing background with absolutely no icons. i have downloaded the dll files from another computer but cannot install it. I hit alt, control, delete and can get to the task manager. but when i hit file and run. the cd cannot load. please help. don't want to lose pics or other personal info. i do not have a recovery or first aid cd. paul

Hello Paul,

You most likely need to repair your windows WITH the Windows XP CD.
