Please print out or copy this page to Notepad . Make sure to work through the steps in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fix.

• Download DSRFIX from HERE onto your Desktop.
  • Unzip and EXTRACT the files to your Desktop.
  • The program creates and names the new folder to house the files.
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET
• Download Cleanup from Here (Alternate site if the above is not working Go Here)
  • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
  • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
  • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
  • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
  • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
  • Click OK
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET
• CLOSE INTERNET EXPLORER, if it is open
  
  
  
• Open the folder dsrfix
  • Double click on the dsrfix batch file( the one with the little gear in it )
  • Once dsrfix has completed it will close on its own
• Run Cleanup
  • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
  • Once its done, close the program.
• REBOOT your system.
  
  
  
• Please restart HJT and post back a fresh HJT log for review.

Next step:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Download Process Explorer by Systernals from HERE
Unzip Process Explorer.

Open your C:\Windows\System32 folder and locate mvhdgs.exe
Don't delete it yet, because you can't for the moment.
Leave your system32-folder open with the view on that bad file.

Now, doubleclick on procexp.exe

You'll see all the running processes there.
Search for C:\WINDOWS\System32\mvhdgs.exe
Doubleclick on C:\WINDOWS\System32\mvhdgs.exe

A new window will open.
You'll see several tabs on top.
Make sure the Threads is selected.
(normally that one will open by default)
You'll see two instances of that C:\WINDOWS\System32\mvhdgs.exe in there.
Select the first one and click Kill
Answer YES at the prompt.

Now delete mvhdgs.exe in your system32-folder.

The file may have changed names between our posts.
You should be able to recognize it if you find a line in your HijackThis log similar to:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hisfyj] C:\WINDOWS\System32\mvhdgs.exe r

The last r is the sign to look for.

If you are unsure which one to pick, leave that alone for now.

Reboot either way into safe mode and delete:
C:\Program Files\teha <= entire folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Assembly\wuauclt.exe <= Only the one in that folder

Boot back to normal and post a new HijackThis log.
