hi there. like many others, i'm having a problem getting rid of winfixer. i followed the instructions in some of the other threads, booting in safe mode, running ewido, cwshredder and nailfix and then rebooting. i've also run norton anti-virus and ad-aware, but win fixer keeps popping up. i also keep seeing pokapoka in my startup items no matter how many times i remove it from the registry and delete windows/ebt. any help? thanks.

Welcome to GTG.

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Thanks. I can't seem to get l2mfix to work. When I click on the bat file it tells me I need an internet connection and to hit return, so I do, and it downloads a file called strings, and then it exits. I never get a menu.

I edited the bat file to start with the menu, hit 1, and then nothing happened. I know you said nothing would happen and then notepad would open, but I waited like 20 minutes and nothing happened.

I even tried and failed to wipe the system with my IBM recovery CDs. This computer is evil.

We try to aviod those uninstallers when we can since some of them can't be trusted.

OK, you have another infection now. Do this:

Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing this infection!
  • Download WinPFind
    • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
    • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
    • Dont do anything with it yet!
  • Download Track qoo
    • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete
  • Go to the WinPFind folder
  • Locate WinPFind.txt
  • Place those results in the next post!
Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

Just curious. Would renaming the l2mfix.bat to l2mfix.cmd work?

Phew :tazz: OK, I managed to look through those two logs ;)

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ and delete fftykfkg
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved and delete {5824B199-95CA-4A16-902A-0B142BCEBF44}

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Copy the below files in RED and go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say no:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\uuqkv.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskuknwrd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\CFindUninst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Cnecupib.oap
C:\WINDOWS\Eeiqezoo.wsd
C:\WINDOWS\HXUYENC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\jjhnv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Loylgdq.hgf
C:\WINDOWS\Uqyxajsidbu.koj
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\4oiiqrst.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\a175fij4.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\budprhhs.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\datadx.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\datadx.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\rrokcrc.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sgorage.dll

Stubborn one :tazz:

CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Download APT http://www.diamondcs...ex.php?page=apt and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

* Open the folder you just created and click on apt.exe and search in the window for rrnaur.exe.
* Open your C:\Windows\system32 folder and search for rrnaur.exe. Don't delete it yet, just leave the system32 folder open so you can see the bad file.
* In APT again, Select rrnaur.exe and Click Kill3.
* Then immediately delete rrnaur.exe from your system32 folder.

Close APT.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rrnaur.exe reg_run
O23 - Service: CWShredder Service - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\OPZ9J2CD\cwshredder[1].exe (file missing)

Locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rrnaur.exe

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Double click WinPFind.exe

* Click 'Start Scan'
* It will scan the entire system, so please be patient!
* Once the scan is complete:
1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Copy those results in the next post!

Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double click on 'Track qoo.vbs'

Note - If you have an anti-virus program that has script blocking features, you will get a pop up window asking you what to do. Allow this entire script to run. It's harmless.

Wait a few seconds and Notepad will pop up. Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind! Also post a new HijackThis log.
