Welcome to GTG.

This is not posted in the correct forum. I will ask a Moderator to move this over to Malware Forums for us :tazz:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Microsoft AntiSpyware. If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to http://www.greyknigh...com/spyware.htm

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service62] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka62.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5LP_0001_0802] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.4\UWFX5LP_0001_0802NetInstaller.exe"
O9 - Extra button: SideStep - {3E230861-5C87-11D3-A1C6-00105A1B41B8} - C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe02a.dll

I want you to check and fix ALL those O18 entries for Logitech, except for the first line (see below). Leave that one alone:

O18 - Protocol: bw+0 - {BA424396-5863-4869-8591-7B7F4CBFC22F} - C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BWPlugProtocol-8876480.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Telephony - C:\WINDOWS\system32\LHX2KUSB.DLL

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

rmdir /q C:\WINDOWS\etb\
rmdir /q "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.4\"
del /f "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe02a.dll"
del /f C:\WINDOWS\system32\LHX2KUSB.DLL
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Restart and run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the free online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. If any are not cleanable, copy and paste the infected files here. Also run Panda ActiveScan at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Upload this file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\niro.exe) to http://virusscan.jotti.org and report back what it found.

Give me this log also:

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Hi Karen, we should be able to remove those as well. Give me those logs, especially Panda's log - this one might show us purityscan and others.

No need to apologize. See, the topic is moved to the correct section now :tazz:

Hi Karen, did you fix them anyway? If not, you may proceed and do all those fixes in Normal Mode then since Safe Mode is giving you problems.

I want you to do these also now:

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Copy the below files and go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say no:

C:\WINDOWS\ETB\POKAPOKA62.EXE
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\OWNER\START MENU\SideStep.lnk
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe02a.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ru.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bbqwg.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\datadx.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\niro.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnkhlh.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ETB\

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Restart and give me the new HijackThis log and the L2MFix log (option #1).

Yes, those files will be stubborn till the end unless we remove all the other associated files together. Get that L2MFix log for me since it will help us out.

You may empty the whole prefetch folder since spyware seems to be in there now.

EDIT: Just saw your new reply. Yes, let it run. It shouldn't take too long though - some users say they left it over an hour :tazz:
