Hello folks! I do hope there's some1 here who can help me with my problem.
Time n again I get adware and malware on my pc and I do a good job of removing it, thru Hijackthis, adaware and windows antispyware. I also use cleanup regularly. Now I scan my pc and it is 'apparently' clean of viruses. I consider myself quite tech savvy but this issue has really got to me. So here goes...

1. My pc has startup problems 'cmos checksum values wrong' type message.
2. Once somehow the pc manages to start after around 30 mins it gets stuck. I checked task manager to see that winlogon.exe was taking up almost all the cpu usage.
3. When i open internet explorer it does not display an address bar. I rightclick and uncheck links and the address window appears. But the settings do not remain, each time i open IE i have to do this again...
4. I activated my sygate firewall and found out that winlogon, mstask and a few other processes were trying to access the internet. I thought this was really weird.
So i blocked their access to the net (I have broadband so i'm constantly online) and the abnormal winlogon cpu usage disappears if i have my firewall activated.

I know i have eliminated the symptoms of this trojan or whatever it is. But I want to eliminate it's roots from my pc. Anyone know's how? I would greatttly appreciate any help on this matter. Calling all tech gurus!

Thanks
